Indian Government bans 59 Chinese applications

59 banned Chinese Applications: leading ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES

indian government bans 59 chinese apps

The Government of India banned 59 Chinese applications.TikTok, Shareit, Wechat, UC browser, etc were some of the very popular applications, in which TikTok was dominating the Indian market.

It is a very small but brave step taken by the government of India. This decision came at the time when there is continuous tension across the Indo-china border. It was India's retaliation to what happened in "Galwan valley".

Here is the complete list of banned applications:

This opens the new doors for Indian startups and entrepreneurs.

How big is the opportunity?

Talking about TikTok a video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance.
Let's see some stats related to TikTok according to mobile insight firm sensor tower reports.

  • TikTok has 800 million active users worldwide.
  • It has been downloaded over 1.5 billion times on Google play store and Apple App Store.
  • It has been downloaded 467 million times in India, which is nearly one-third of its total downloads.
  • Six out of every ten downloads of the TikTok happened in India in 2019.
  • It has more than 200 million users in India.

These are the stats of just one app and if we talk about all 59 apps then. According to the mobile insights reports of App Annie, all these apps had a combined 500+ million monthly active users.

The government of India is trying to cut down the import dependence on China. Not just these apps but also different products we import from china need alternatives, so why not replace them with Indian products. This will not only help Indian Startups but will also boost up the Indian economy.

India, the world's second-largest internet market has the potential to lead the world and acquire the whole market.

What to do?

We import a lot from china including electronics, toys, pharma, heavy machinery, etc. Chinese smartphones are dominating the Indian market with 74% of occupancy.75% of smart televisions are Chinese.90% of our antibiotics come from china. More than 90% of the toys are made in china.

When the Government of India is supporting Indian startups, Indian products and coming up with campaigns like "Vocal for Local".Just grab this opportunity and look for products we import or Chinese services existing in the Indian market and how can you find out alternatives. It has possibilities for self-growth as well as national importance.

CONCLUSION:
After the Indo-china clash at "Galwan valley" there has been a tremendous denial of Chinese products and the demand for banning Chinese products is increasing. So, I think this is the best time when Indian startups and entrepreneurs should grab this opportunity and take the very first step of acquiring the market and let the "MADE IN INDIA" campaign do the free marketing for them.
